OUR STORY

THE HEIGHTS 167 was originally named Point Grill Latin Cuisine and first opened its doors in October 2020 by our founder Eric Lucero. What started out as a move to help out his parent's restaurant Dona Julia Mexican Restaurant in Point Pleasant Beach, eventually turned into an opportunity to launch a  NYC themed restaurant. Upon arriving to Point Pleasant beach in June of 2020, Eric quickly realized that the food he grew accustomed to in Jackson Heights, Queens, food that was readily available on any corner of the most diverse city in the country, had been difficult to come by here in the Jersey Shore. That's when he decided to incorporate his favorite Latin dishes from the neighborhood like a Colombian Bandeja Paisa or Peruvian Chaufa and take a risk of opening a restaurant during the pandemic. While everyone told him he was crazy, Eric quickly developed a following and a reputation for providing a unique and memorable experience with amazing flavors. That's when he decided to rebrand and actually name his restaurant after the neighborhood he was raised in: Jackson Heights, Queens. He added the numbers 167 in order to reflect the diversity of his cuisine. The number 167 is in reference to the 167 languages spoken in the city. Eric wanted a place where people from all over the Jersey Shore can experience that NYC feeling he had growing up, while also enjoying our Latin American inspired dishes and comfortable atmosphere.
